My First Bill Signed Into Law
I joined President Trump at the White House for the signing of my first bill as a United States Senator: The Maintaining American Superiority by Improving Export Control Transparency Act. I was proud to team up with my former House colleague Ronny Jackson in getting this important bipartisan legislation across the finish line.
For too long, countries like China have exploited loopholes to steal American innovation and turn it against us. This bipartisan law is an important first step to hold China accountable and ensure that our cutting-edge technology is never used by our adversaries to undermine our national security.
My bill also makes sure that Congress has the transparency and resources needed to guarantee that America’s export control system is doing its job – keeping sensitive U.S. defense technologies out of the hands of our adversaries.
When I asked Hoosiers for their vote not even a year ago, I promised them I would fight to make America stronger and safer. The most important part of my job will always be serving the people of Indiana first, and that includes fighting to hold China accountable. Thank you, President Trump, for signing this bill into law and helping keep America and Indiana strong and safe.
