We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Jan Allen Courage Award will be presented to North Carolina State Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs at our annual Lead with Lillian reception on Sunday, September 14th in Chapel Hill. Justice Riggs has shown extraordinary courage in standing up to anti-democratic attacks and fighting tirelessly to ensure that every North Carolinian’s vote is counted. Her leadership and resilience embody the very spirit of the Jan Allen Courage Award.

Justice Riggs’s fight to defend democracy and protect the voices of North Carolinians has been nothing short of extraordinary. From winning a hard-fought election to standing firm against efforts to discard thousands of legal votes, she has demonstrated the courage, integrity, and perseverance that this moment demands. At Lead with Lillian , we will honor her leadership and celebrate her as a model of the fearless women we need on our courts, in our legislature, and across our state.
