Friend --
More than 10,000 Pennsylvanians have died from firearm suicide in the last decade. In the aftermath, families are left mourning loved ones and trying to make sense of what they missed, while communities may whisper about the horrific loss. The silence, stigma, and pain that follow often go unspoken. In small and rural communities, where firearm suicide rates are highest, that silence can stretch across households, towns, even generations.
We must break this silence if we’re going to end this crisis–and help families and communities heal.
Join us on September 19th at noon for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month’s Beyond the Headlines as we discuss the aftermath of firearm suicide. RSVP today. [[link removed]]

Our featured guest is Dr. Frank R. Campbell, an Army veteran, suicide loss survivor, and founder of the LOSS Team [[link removed]] model—a peer-based response approach now used across the U.S. and internationally to support survivors of suicide loss in real time.
He’ll be joined by Dr. Jay Breneman, Stoneleigh Fellow and Director of Firearm Suicide Prevention at CeaseFirePA Education Fund.
We’ll explore:
* Why the warning signs we expect often aren’t visible, or seen in time
* What keeps survivors from speaking up, seeking help, or being heard
* How grief, stigma, silence, and firearm culture intersect in Pennsylvania communities
* Why postvention is prevention, and how breaking that silence can save lives
This conversation is grounded in both lived experience and systemic challenges. It builds on The Missing Conversation [[link removed]] , CeaseFirePA Education Fund’s groundbreaking report on rural perceptions of firearm suicide in Pennsylvania.
Whether you’re a survivor, professional, advocate, or just someone who wants to learn more about firearm suicide—the leading cause of violent death in Pennsylvania—this conversation is for you. [[link removed]]
