Dear John,
No matter how you look at this week, you can
only be assured of one thing: it’s all about our flag. It’s a debate
that One Nation was proud to have started and will continue.
We witnessed extraordinary scenes when Labor,
the Liberals and the Greens united to prohibit the wearing of the
Australian Flag in the Senate.
Australians are rightly livid. Never before has
our democracy endured such contempt for our national symbol from the
political elites who are meant to serve us.
Those who proudly wear the flag are mocked,
humiliated, taunted, even branded “racist.” Now our Senators, like
Pauline Hanson, are barred by Labor and the Greens from wearing the
flag into Parliament.
One Nation has always embraced our flag, even
when Labor and the Greens sneered at it. Let’s not forget: both Labor
and the Greens have long held policies to change the flag. They hate
it, and by extension, they show their hatred for everyday
Australians.
But thanks to your hard work, we lodged a
petition with more than 45,000
signatures calling for Australia’s flag-burning
extremists to be outlawed.
Yet when the motion came before the Senate,
Labor and the Greens blocked it. Instead, the Greens insisted they’d
rather carry the Palestinian flag inside our parliament.
Australians can see the rift widening. The
flames of division are being fanned by an arrogant, un-Australian
Prime Minister who refuses to stand for our nation’s unity.
One Nation will always fight to bring
Australians together: under one flag, one people,
one national identity.
