Friend, Donald Trump and his administration had their targets set on the most vulnerable students of America from Day One, when they sought to dismantle the Department of Education.

Just weeks before the new school year, they unlawfully froze billions in federal education funds – including $463 million that New York students and educators were counting on. 

These cuts threatened after-school programs, teacher training, mental health services, and classroom resources that our educators, students, and families rely on.

But Attorney General Letitia James took swift legal action, and now, after our lawsuit, the federal government has reversed course and released the funding in full.

This is a major victory – not just for New York, but also for students and educators nationwide. But as federal funding cuts continue to threaten educators in other parts of the country, we must show that they have a coalition of activists fighting for them.
