Right now, National Guard troops are continuing to flood the streets of Washington, D.C.—and now they’re armed. 

Our communities are safest when law enforcement is accountable to the people—not when soldiers carrying military-grade weapons are deployed against American civilians. Arming the Guard in our nation’s capital is a dangerous escalation that undermines trust, increases the risk of unnecessary violence, and sets a precedent we must not allow to stand.

Their only goal is to instill fear. This has nothing to do with public safety. Instead of protecting the city, they are focusing on bogus arrests of DC citizens videoing officers for accountability.

This is a moment when we need leadership rooted in accountability and common sense. I’m calling for immediate oversight and restraint before this escalates into a tragedy.
