Today, we’re endorsing Angela Gonzales-Torres for Congress! Angela is running in California’s 34th district: the very heart of Los Angeles. She is a working-class education advocate and community leader ready to take on incumbent Rep. Jimmy Gomez and the Washington establishment he represents.

Establishment leaders and wealthy elites in Washington have done everything in their power to stamp down on progressives, and protect their own. They have consistently chosen to fight the next generation of leadership within their own party harder than they fight against Trump and the GOP.

Here’s the situation: last cycle, AIPAC threatened to spend over $100 million to unseat the entire Squad of Justice Democrats in Congress and they failed. But with the corporate establishment’s approval, AIPAC did succeed in two races and we cannot allow that to happen again. So today, we’ve set a big goal, and even if we get half of it, it’ll be a huge feat. But it’s important for us to try.

For months, corporate and establishment Democrats have done everything in their power to stop another Zohran Mamdani or anyone like him from succeeding — despite their overwhelming popularity with the Democratic base. Last cycle, they did everything in their power to stop Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman from returning to Congress. And before that, after the Squad was elected in 2018, they did everything to stop another Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib from happening.

Over the years, they’ve blacklisted progressives to undermine their grassroots campaigns. They continue to raise money for conservative Democrats who stand against Trump when it’s convenient, but support bills that further his inhumane and corrupt agenda. They’ve blamed progressives for Trump’s presidency, interfered in primaries with GOP billionaire money rather than give voters a fair fight, and have done everything other than welcome the progressive change Americans desperately need and are clamoring for.

That’s why we need you to go big with us in these first 24 hours – we need to make this statement loud and clear. I’ll be honest with you, I’m not sure we’re going to raise as much as we need to today. But if we’re able to pull off something BIG for Angela, it’ll put every single out-of-touch, corporate Democrat on notice. No establishment Democrat should feel safe.

• Despite promising to stop taking corporate PAC money, he has continued to collect big checks from corporate PACs through his leadership PAC.
• He has voted to greenlight Donald Trump’s Crypto corruption, allowing Trump and his family to continue to make billions of dollars off his Presidency.
• Gomez is also one of the largest recipients of Israel lobby money from AIPAC. Even as Israel commits genocide against the Palestinian people, Gomez continues to vote to send billions of dollars of weapons overseas while working people in Los Angeles struggle to make ends meet.
