Dear John,

Too many families in America are being told to fend for themselves—especially when it comes to caring for children with special health needs. With looming cuts to Medicaid threatening care for Black families and low-income schools nationwide, the stakes couldn't be higher. Thirty-seven percent of Black students attend high poverty schools, according to a 2023 analysis by National Center for Education Statistics.

But in Kansas City, we’re doing something different. Through a powerful partnership across 17 counties, we’re connecting children with critical health services—from hospitalization and medications to assistive technologies and therapies—backed by up to $25,000 in state-funded care per child. We’re not just managing needs. We’re helping kids thrive—emotionally, developmentally, and cognitively.

This is the kind of care every child deserves—but it only happens when we invest in it. Your support powers this movement, protects kids, and pushes back against those trying to take it all away.
