Dear Supporter,

It’s been a year since your last edition of the Oxfamily newsletter and truly, what a year it’s been, like no other.

This time last year, we shared stories of hope, resilience, and progress through your Oxfamily newsletter. I am glad to say that thanks to your incredible support, the success didn’t end there — it continues to create new chapters of change across the globe.

While your Oxfamily newsletter is available HERE, I want to give you a sneak peek ahead of you reading it in full.

A lot of our focus, and yours, has been on destruction, death and now, a continued trauma with a recently declared man-made famine in Gaza.

Our thoughts, hope and solidarity remain steadfast, especially with your unwavering support. Please take the time to read our colleague Ghada’s diary from Gaza within this edition.

Inside the covers you will read the heartwarming story of Christopher and Nanise (pictured above) from Tonga, a pacific island. Their home of Ha’aapai frequently experiences tsunami and volcanic eruptions, causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting water supplies. But, thanks to your support and our local partner - Tonga National Youth Congress, the people of Ha’apai are fighting back.

During times of disasters, Christopher and Nanise’s school serves the entire community as a meeting space, accommodation and provides sufficient clean water to serve the entire community. But in times of safety, it works to ensure disaster preparedness - through education.

Nukonuka Talanoa, the school principal, proudly shares that the school’s (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) WASH club empowers children with lessons on water conservation and good hygiene practices.

The club members are the ones monitoring everything to do with water. The water tanks, sinks, bathroom, the washing of hands at recess and lunch time. These kids are the ones who help us”

When you read this year’s newsletter, you will see more stories of impact made possible by your support. I hope this year’s newsletter shows you that our commitment towards building a fairer future is not short-lived–that we will not stop.

Thank you, Supporter, for partnering with us. We could not have asked for a better ally and friend.

With heartfelt thanks,

Mark Mellett

Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Oxfam Ireland

P.S. Myself and the team love to hear from you. We’d be delighted to if you have a minute to share your feedback with us, through this short survey (it’s five quick questions).

P.P.S. We would also love to see you! If you could join us this Saturday in Dublin, at the National March for Palestine, we will meet at the US Embassy (in Dublin 4) at 1pm. Please do respond to this email and let us know if you can make it too. Thank you so much.
