Yesterday, President Trump announced that he plans to send federal troops into Baltimore to “fight crime,” claiming the city is unsafe.
This isn’t about safety. It’s about political theater.
Over the last year in Baltimore, homicides have been down 24% and nonfatal shootings are down 18%. While still more needs to be done, Baltimore does not need the National Guard.
Yet Trump insists on using the military as a spectacle instead of supporting the proven efforts of our local leaders.
As Maryland’s Attorney General, I take public safety seriously. Using taxpayer dollars to deploy troops for political theater won’t make our communities safer. We deserve leaders who understand the challenges and work with local officials to keep people safe.
I’m running for reelection to stand up to Trump’s dangerous federal overreach.
Will you chip in $25 or more today to my reelection campaign so I can continue fighting for safe streets, strong communities, and our rights?

Together, we can make sure Maryland stays safe, accountable, and resilient.
I hope you’ll join me,
