Friend — Florida’s surgeon general has announced that the state government will work to eliminate any and all vaccine mandates, including for children who attend public schools.
This means children as young as 3 years old would no longer be required to get vaccinated for diseases like measles, mumps, polio, Hepatitis B, and tetanus before attending daycare, kindergarten, or grade school.
I know it sounds unthinkable, but it’s true:
Of course, I’m angry. But more than that, I’m scared.
Scared for every child who could suffer or even die from a completely preventable illness because their government embraced lies and misinformation.
Scared for every family that will be led astray because elected officials decided to play politics with their child’s health.
Friend, a year from today, we’ll be in the throes of a hotly contested battle for control of Congress.
That’s our next best opportunity to take power back from the conspiracy theorists currently running our government and put a check on the out-of-control, anti-science, anti-American MAGA movement.
But have to start laying the groundwork for victory right now, because we all know that MAGA has an army of billionaires, corporate donors, and Super PACs lining up to buy this election and promote their irresponsible crusade against the proven, safe, and effective science of vaccines.
There’s even one billionaire who stated it will be her “personal mission” to defeat senators like me who voted against the confirmation of the anti-vaxxer RFK Jr. So we’re going to need everybody who understands the stakes here to stand by our side.
