September 3rd is National Protect Your Groundwater Day
groundwater day
Protect Your Groundwater Day serves as an annual reminder for water well owners to test, tend, and treat their private water systems. The National Groundwater Association encourages annual inspections of private water systems by certified water well contractors to ensure systems are operating correctly and producing safe and healthy water.
If you live in a rural area, it is likely that your daily water supply comes from a well on your property. More than 75 percent of Wyoming’s population relies on groundwater for part, or all, of their drinking water supply. This water comes from more than 53,000 wells. Experts recommend having these systems inspected every year.
