Top Texas Lawman Hit With Corruption, Harassment Charges
Texas law enforcement is reeling after one of its own was hauled into custody.
Johnson County Sheriff Adam King, once trusted to lead the fight against crime, is now facing serious felony indictments. A grand jury charged him with retaliation, official oppression tied to sexual harassment, and corrupt influence—allegations so severe he was booked in his own jail before posting bond.
The case stems from a June complaint by one of his own employees, prompting county officials to call in the Texas Rangers for an independent investigation. Reports say King not only faced the allegations but engaged in retaliatory behavior during the probe, sealing his indictment.
Even under indictment, King remains sheriff, though barred from contacting witnesses, entering county facilities, or carrying a firearm off-duty. For a man once leading anti-trafficking task forces, it’s a humiliating collapse that has left his county stunned and law enforcement credibility shaken.
