Neighborhood Litter Stomp is Back!
Get ready for the upcoming Neighborhood Litter Stomp cleanup on Saturday, October 11!
Neighborhood Litter Stomp is an annual, citywide, litter cleanup hosted by Keep Fort Worth Beautiful (KFWB) each fall that promotes litter control and community pride. This year, we plan to make this the largest neighborhood cleanup event of the year, and everyone is invited to join!
Last year, 1,494 volunteers removed 31,303 pounds of litter from across the city in just three hours. This year, we are setting an even bigger challenge: to recruit 2,000 volunteers who will work together to remove over 40,000 pounds of litter from Fort Worth’s streets, parks, and public spaces.
As a volunteer, you can pick which part of the city you want to clean by choosing from a pre-selected hub list, or you can select your own area within Fort Worth instead. Parks, schools, waterways, or other public areas in the city are all options. Volunteers are welcome to bring along family and friends to support community cleanup efforts.
Registration is open!
Registration is now open! You can register as a group or solo volunteer. Register today to be one of the first 1,000 registrants and get a free themed T-shirt as a thank-you for your commitment. All litter cleanup supplies will be provided for free by KFWB. Register online today at fortworthtexas.gov/litterstomp!
Tire Collection!
As part of this year’s Litter Stomp event, Environmental Services will also be accepting scrap tires, to further its efforts to combat illegal dumping. Residents can bring their old and used tires to the East Regional Public Library on Oct. 11 from 8 am until 11 am. Rims are accepted but must be removed from the tire. Commercial tires will not be accepted. Volunteers that remove scrap tires during the litter cleanup, can work with KFWB for collection.
Join us this September for another Special Event Litter Cleanup!
Keep Fort Worth Beautiful is hosting a Special Event Litter Cleanup at Cobb Park in the Ash Crescent Neighborhood on Saturday, September 13. Join us to help keep the neighborhood litter-free for the community. Bring your family and friends to participate. Free cleanup supplies and water will be provided to all volunteers.
Registration is optional, but volunteers who register beforehand will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a litter-themed swag bag!
DATE: Saturday, Sept. 13
TIME: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
LOCATION: 1600 Cobb Park Dr., Fort Worth, Texas 76104
Register and learn more by visiting the Ash Crescent Special Event Litter Cleanup webpage.

Get ready for improvements to City Drop-Off Stations
Big things are happening at Fort Worth’s Drop-Off Stations! Starting on October 1, 2025, the City will roll out improvements designed to make your visits to any of our four Drop-Off Stations (DOS) faster, safer, and easier. These updates will give residents convenient ways to properly dispose of extra household garbage, recyclables, bulk waste, and other extra household waste.
What improvements will be made at the DOS?
- Updated operational hours
- Clearer guidelines for materials you can bring and how often
- Streamlined disposal processes
City of Fort Worth residents with active City of Fort Worth solid waste accounts on their water bill (less than six months) and a matching driver’s license can use all DOS services. Apartment residents living in Fort Worth can bring recycling and household hazardous waste (HHW) to a DOS with a driver’s license as proof of address.
For a full details, visit fortworthtexas.gov/solidwaste/drop-off.

New State-of-the-Art recycling facility opening this October
Exciting news, Fort Worth! A brand-new, state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility (SOTA MRF) is opening this fall to help improve recycling services in our city.
The MRF is designed to capture more recyclable items, process materials more efficiently, and helps divert thousands of tons from the landfill each year.
However, the impact of the facility is limited by the quality of materials received. When you recycle properly, the facility will be able to recycle more effectively. That is why reducing contamination is just as important as the grand opening of the MRF. In addition to the ongoing Rethink: Waste to Resources campaign, Environmental Services will also expand education programs by teaming up with WM Recycle America, local schools, and community groups to reduce contamination and help residents recycle smarter.
🌎 3 Easy Ways You Can Help Fort Worth Recycle Smarter:
-
Keep it clean: Rinse containers before recycling to reduce contamination. Don’t recycle grocery or trash bags.
-
Know what goes: Use the Garbage & Recycling App or Waste Wizard to see which items can be recycled.
-
Spread the word: Share recycling tips with family, friends, and neighbors.
Together, we can make the most of Fort Worth’s new state-of-the-art recycling facility!

Recycling Myth #2: “Recycling has no economic benefit.”
Some people think recycling is pointless because it does not help the economy. In reality, recycling plays a huge role! Not only does recycling create numerous jobs in different sectors, but it also conserves energy, reduces landfill waste, decreases harmful emissions, and supports local businesses by turning recyclable materials into new products that go right back into the economy.
Recyclable materials fall under four main categories: paper/cardboard, plastic, metal, and glass.
Here are some ways these materials can be used to benefit the economy:
-
Paper/cardboard: Recycled paper, including cardboard, can be turned into new paper products. Buying stationary, household goods, and packaging made from recycled paper is a great way to support sustainable business practices.
-
Plastic: Recycled plastics, like shampoo bottles, can be used to decrease the amount of plastic produced from raw materials, which saves time, resources, and money. Recycled plastic is useful for many different things, such as crafts, home décor, furniture, and even the container for your favorite shampoo.
-
Metal: Metals can be melted down to create new products like appliances, vehicle parts, and construction materials. Using recycled metal helps reduce energy usage and costs associated with extracting raw metals.
-
Glass: Glass can be repurposed in various ways, including flower vases, drinking glasses, and even asphalt.
By recycling, we invest in our community, reduce landfill waste, and create a more sustainable future. Let’s keep Fort Worth green by recycling!

Simple Ways to Report Air Quality Issues
Whether you live in the city, suburbs, or out in the middle of nowhere, clean air is vital to your environment and health. Polluted air can become a nuisance that negatively impacts our health—like causing raspatory issues. That is why it is important for everyone to understand what air nuisances are and how we can help reduce their impact.
Here are some frequently asked questions to help you recognize and report air nuisances:
What is an air nuisance?
An air nuisance is any type of air pollution that can negatively impact human, animal, and plant health. Things like smoke, gasoline, cleaning chemicals, and gas emissions can be considered air nuisances.
How can I report air quality nuisances to the City of Fort Worth?
You can report air quality nuisance issues to the City by using the MyFW App, calling the 311 Fort Worth Contact Center at (817) 392-1234, or by emailing [email protected].
How will the City respond to my air quality report?
The Environmental Services Department’s Air Quality Team will investigate your report and take necessary actions to safely manage the issue.

Stormwater Quality: Fall Leaves
Autumn is just around the corner, and before you know it, your trees will start changing colors and shedding leaves all over your yard again. With temperatures dropping and leaves falling, now is the best time to think about how you can safely deal with those leaves and other yard waste. Collected leaf piles and other yard trimmings left on your lawn and streets not only looks bad but is also bad for the environment.
Loose leaves and other small yard trimmings can blow into streets and collect inside stormwater drains. Clogged drains can obstruct water flow, which may result in backups, flooding, or other issues. Residents may also be charged a fine for causing stormwater drain blockages.
Safe ways to dispose of all those leaves:
Here are some ways you can safely get rid of all those leaves and yard trimmings:
- Fill paper yard bags with leaves, brush, grass clippings, shrubs, and twigs. Set the closed yard bags on your curbside for yard waste collection.
- Put leaves and yard trimmings in your green yard cart. You can request a 96-gallon green yard cart for a one-time $75 fee.
- Take yard waste to one of the City’s four Drop-Off Stations.
- Blow/sweep leaves back onto your lawn and use then as mulch or fertilizer.
- Rake or blow leaves into a compost pile to use in your garden.
Remember, it’s easy to dispose of leaves and yard waste in Fort Worth with the simple options mentioned above. Give them a try and do your part to help keep Fort Worth beautiful!
