Friend, these reports of ICE’s activities are shocking: 

A pregnant U.S. citizen shoved, detained, and falsely charged with assaulting an officer. 

A Latino citizen detained because he “looked like” a suspect. 

And countless protesters and onlookers subjected to tear gas and beatings. 

Particularly disturbing – one of Connecticut’s own State Representatives, Corey Paris, was threatened with prosecution for merely informing his constituents of immigration enforcement efforts and prioritizing their safety. 

This is unconstitutional abuse of power. Plain and simple.

That’s why as Ranking Member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations in the Senate, I am taking decisive action and opening a formal inquiry into ICE’s unlawful tactics and training materials. We, the American people, have a right to demand answers on why our country is veering into a police state. 

But meanwhile, radical Republicans are attempting to reward these very abuses with even more funding: a blank check to ultimately escalate these tactics in every state, and potentially in your hometown.
