Monday’s Labor Day celebrations were a powerful reminder that Los Angeles is a city fueled by union work and we’re committed to fighting for the labor movement in every industry.

Unions give workers power like never before and the popularity of unions is only rising. Unions give workers the power to bargain for safer workplaces, fair schedules, better pay, and the benefits they deserve.

Weekends, child labor laws, sick leave, overtime pay, minimum wage, and so much more are hard-won progress that we would not have without the work of unions.

This week and every day, please join me in honoring our nation’s labor leaders and renewing our commitment to workers’ rights for years to come.
