I hope you had a restful holiday weekend.

Thanks to your support in August, we met our digital fundraising goal. It’s a pivotal milestone on our path to re-election and reclaiming the House majority. Every contribution is a vote of confidence -- not just in me, but in the values we’re fighting for.

As I return to Congress this week, we can’t ignore what’s happening across the country. We’ve seen federal agents and even National Guard troops sent into cities like Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. At a time when crime is at historic lows, this feels less about protecting the public and more about consolidating power.

This isn’t leadership -- it’s intimidation, and it’s not what our democracy should look like.

I’m back in Washington with a reaffirmed purpose: I’m introducing legislation to protect the leaders of our key statistical agencies from politically-motivated firings. We need professionals in these roles, not pawns of power plays. I’ll keep pushing back -- against all of Trump’s authoritarian impulses in the White House.
