John,

Across America, massive data centers are rapidly being built to power
artificial intelligence systems. Many of these centers are powered by
fossil fuels and use huge amounts of water and energy in already scarce or
overburdened communities. They promise jobs and minimal environmental
impact — but the reality on the ground tells a different story.

That’s why we’d like to invite you to our [ [link removed] ]Green the Grid campaign's
Midweek MythBuster to kick off the next, national phase of our initiative
advocating for sensible, human-centered approaches to data centers after
initially supporting this struggle in Memphis.

[ [link removed] ]RSVP: #GreenTheGrid Midweek MythBuster

We'll be discussing the impact on the economy and environment posed by the
massive data center campuses appearing coast to coast in communities from
Virginia to Pennsylvania, and Texas to Arizona — just to name a few.

📅 Wednesday, Sept. 10th at 6 - 7pm EDT

📍 Zoom Webinar

Data centers at a glance:

* Data center power demand is expected to triple by 2028. This surge in
demand is driving companies to rely on dirty, air-polluting fossil
fuels instead of renewable energy.
* Large data centers can consume up to 10 million gallons of water a
day, enough to supply a town of 50,000 people — and 40% of planned and
existing data centers are in areas facing high water scarcity, like
Arizona.
* Air pollution from data centers is projected to cost Americans $9.2
billion in public health damages annually.
* Oftentimes, they bring less than 20 permanent jobs, despite big
economic promises from industry leaders.

Join our [ [link removed] ]Midweek MythBuster to uncover more of the truth behind these
facilities, what disinformation is being peddled by big tech, and what’s
at stake for our communities. Featured during our call:

* On the ground in Memphis: Hear from KeShaun Pearson of Memphis
Community Against Pollution on the fight against Elon Musk’s methane
turbine–powered Colossus supercomputer.
* The bigger picture: Dream.Org Policy Associate Loralei Hojay will
break down the Trump Administration’s AI Action Plan and the legal
loopholes that are fast-tracking harmful data center projects.
* Opportunities to take action: Learn how to get involved, support local
fights, and join the movement for clean air, safe water, and
accountable tech.

[ [link removed] ]RSVP today!

This isn’t something to worry about later. Communities are already paying
the price. From higher energy bills to worsening air quality, everyday
Americans bear the burden while corporations rake in the profits.

In solidarity,

— The Dream.Org Team
