Politicians who backed this year’s budget “reconciliation” bill are spinning hard, arguing at town halls and in local newspapers that the law’s Draconian safety net cuts are OK because they “only” affect people who are undocumented. We drafted a sample op-ed to help partners set the record straight and hold politicians accountable.

Immigrant families are often left out of disaster recovery operations because of lack of language access, confusion about eligibility, and concerns about engagement with Department of Homeland Security staff. We have worked with partners to update our disaster recovery toolkit, available in nine languages, providing an overview of recovery program eligibility and social media resources to share more information.
