In November 2025, Pennsylvania will hold an obscure judicial election that will determine the fate of the 3 vote democratic majority on the PA State Supreme Court. It may sound like a parochial local race but if Democrats lose here it will set off a chain reaction that will end the Democratic party as we know it. This is how it would go down: Domino 1: Democrats lose the PA Supreme Court, Republican Justices are appointed, a sweeping set of verdicts are issued: Extreme MAGA voter suppression upheld and early and mail in voting banned. Extreme abortion ban upheld. GOP redistricting to axe all of PA’s blue Congressional seats is upheld. Domino 2: Democrats lose the 2026 midterms. Don’t take back the House. Domino 3: The voter suppression measures approved by the PA Supreme Court ensure that in 2028 Trump wins Pennsylvania and their 19 electoral college votes. The blue wall collapses (again) and Trump takes a third term. Domino 4: Unable to win elections the Democratic party cedes the nation to a triumphant MAGA movement and fades into obscurity. One party rule is established. Taking advantage of the low profile nature of this election MAGA is quietly dumping tens of millions of dollars into this race while Democrats are nowhere to be found. If the election were held today Democrats would lose it.
