BIG SKY REPORT:
 An Update from Senator Daines
 Fellow American,
August was an extremely busy month! The month was marked by significant
diplomatic achievements, advancements in energy policy, and ongoing efforts to
support our communities amid challenges like wildfires and public safety
concerns. From brokering international peace to protecting Montana jobs, my
team and I worked tirelessly to deliver results for you. Thank you for your
continued input and support—it guides everything I do.
I hope you enjoy this August edition of the Big Sky Report.
Policy Achievements: Advancing Montana’s Priorities
Brokering Historic Peace Agreement Between Armenia and Azerbaijan
I was proud to join President Trump at the White House on August 8 for the
signing of a landmark peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, along
with bilateral deals and the announcement of the Trump Route for International
Peace and Prosperity. As Chairman of the European Subcommittee, I traveled to
both countries, met with their leaders, and helped facilitate these
discussions. This deal enhances U.S. national security by reducing dependency
on Russian critical minerals and promotes global stability.I previewed this
historic moment on Fox News, emphasizing its implications for America.

Saving Montana Jobs Through the One Big Beautiful Bill
On August 14, I visited the Bull Mountains Mine near Roundup, which remains
operational thanks to a provision I secured in the One Big Beautiful Bill,
signed by President Trump. This ensures nearly 250 good-paying Montana jobs and
bolsters national energy independence. Media coverage from KTVO highlighted how
the mine will stay open for at least nine more years, underscoring our
commitment to Made-in-America energy.
Expanding Investment Opportunities for American Workers
I applauded President Trump’s Executive Order on August 7, expanding access
to alternative assets like private equity and cryptocurrency for workers and
retirees with 401(k) plans. Following my earlier letter, I joined colleagues on
August 23 in urging the Department of Labor to implement this fully, leveling
the playing field for Main Street Americans and enhancing retirement security
for Montanans.
Protecting Montana’s Energy and Mining Interests
I supported U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz’s policies to increase
logging, mining, and grazing while reducing wildfire risks. Additionally, with
Montana’s delegation, I called on President Trump to address Russia’s predatory
palladium trade practices, safeguarding jobs at Sibanye-Stillwater in Columbus.
Addressing Environmental Concerns at Flathead Lake
Alongside Senator Tim Sheehy, I sent a letter to the Department of the
Interior on August 5, urging a long-term solution to decreased water levels at
Flathead Lake due to warm conditions and reduced inflows. This is vital for
northwestern Montana’s environment, economy, and residents.
Community Engagement: Listening to Montanans
Visiting Malmstrom Air Force Base
On August 7, I visited Malmstrom Air Force Base to discuss defense wins in
the One Big Beautiful Bill, including support for our ICBMs and military
priorities. This base is crucial to Montana’s economy and national security,
and I’m committed to ensuring our airmen have the resources they need.
Responding to Wildfires and Emergencies
I closely monitored the Horn Fire in Madison County on August 14, urging
residents to stay safe and thanking firefighters. Following the tragic death of
a firefighter battling the Bivens Creek Fire on August 25, Cindy and I prayed
for his family and honored his heroism. We also expressed gratitude to first
responders after a plane crash at Kalispell City Airport on August 11, where
all survived with minor injuries.
Celebrating the National Park Service’s Birthday
On August 25, I celebrated the National Park Service’s 109th birthday,
highlighting Montana’s treasures like Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.
These are the crown jewels of our state.
Looking Ahead
August demonstrated what strong leadership can achieve—from historic
international peace deals to protecting Montana’s jobs and natural resources.
As we head into fall, I remain focused on delivering for Montana: bolstering
our economy, supporting our military and veterans, and addressing community
needs. We continue to deliver historic gains for the American people, but we
still have a lot of work to do.If you want to be a part of this fight, please
consider making a contribution of any amount to my re-election campaign.
