In recent years, health insurers have faced criticism for prior authorization requirements, where an insurer must approve a medical service before a patient receives it to ensure coverage.
Health Affairs has collected a panel of experts to discuss the current state of prior authorization and how prior authorization processes and regulations affect drugs/pharmaceuticals, oncology/cancer care, and opioid use disorder treatment plans.
Speakers include:
- A. Mark Fendrick, The University of Michigan's Center for Value-Based Insurance Design (Moderator)
- Ravi Gupta, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health
- Michael Anne Kyle, Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
- Christina Andrews, University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health
