Hi John,
The Trump administration just launched its biggest attack on wildlife and public lands.
Species from grizzly bears in Montana to migratory songbirds in the Appalachians could be irreparably harmed — all to turn national forests into timber factories.
The Center for Biological Diversity will fight this move with all our strength, and we need you with us. Please give now to the Wildlife and Wild Places Defense Fund.
For decades wild, unfragmented national forests have been kept free of road construction, logging, and other forms of destruction by the Roadless Rule.
But as a favor to industry, Trump just moved to eliminate this rule. What comes next will be a disaster for wildlife, national forests, and the country's water supply if we don't stop it.
The scale of the harm Trump intends to do to our forests is hard to imagine.
Nearly 45 million acres of national forests will be thrown open to road construction and logging. This could have a direct impact on wolverines, Canada lynx, grizzlies, owls and countless species of birds and fish.
It will also expose the clean water supply of millions of Americans, across dozens of states, to pollution from road-related erosion and sedimentation.
Gutting the Roadless Rule is a direct assault on the last strongholds of our wild forests. It also amounts to the greatest single evisceration of public lands protection in the country's history.
The Center knew this was coming. Trump and anti-wildlife forces have wanted to get their greedy hands on public lands since Day One. We've beat them back before and we’ll do so again.
No one wants our forests paved over. And no one wants grizzlies and other species to be pushed to extinction.
This will be a long battle, and we're ready. Those of us who cherish the wild must now stand together.
Because threats wildlife are ongoing, we need you for the long haul. Please start a monthly donation to sustain our defense.
For the wild,
