Hello John,
This weekend, join Stop Rosebank, XR groups and others at protests around the country calling on the Government to Stop Rosebank.
The North Sea oil field was approved by the Conservative Government in 2023, but their decision was ruled unlawful by the Scottish Court of Session in November 2024 because it did consider the climate impact of burning 500 million more barrels of oil.
We must tell the Labour Government to refuse Equinor’s new application which is due to be submitted this year. Let’s show them the insanity of approving any new fossil fuels during a Climate Emergency.
The Stop Rosebank weekend of action includes protests at 17 locations around the UK including:
London - Meet in Kier Starmer’s Constituency, outside Camden Council offices, 5 St Pancras Square, 10am-11am.
Newark - Join Andrew Dames for a day of his 650-mile pilgrimage from Shetland to London to highlight the campaign. Meet at Newark Northgate at 8.30am.
Birmingham - Join Greenpeace Birmingham and other groups holding stalls, outreach and letter writing in Victoria Square, 12noon-2pm.
Shetland - Join the protest outside the MP's office in Commercial St, Lerwick, 1pm-2pm.
There are also actions in Sheffield, Glasgow, Pontypridd, Bath, Bristol, Edinburgh, Norwich, Bournemouth, Aberdeen, South Shields, Newcastle, Penzance, and on Sunday 7th in Oxford and Cambridge so find your local one here.
Rosebank would create more annual emissions than the world’s poorest 28 countries combined. Let’s stop it now.
Love and Rage,
XRUK
