John —

Growing up in a union family deeply shaped my values and my commitment to working people. My dad was a Vietnam veteran who worked hard to provide for us, while my mom was dedicated to her career as a teaching assistant and a proud Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) member. I saw up close how organized labor gave our family stability, dignity, and opportunities — values that have shaped who I am and why I fight for working people every day.

In my roles as a nurse, public health leader, and now as your Lieutenant Governor, I've always championed fair pay, safe workplaces, and the dignity of every worker. These principles are what builds a thriving economy that benefits everyone, not just the privileged few.

As Governor, I'll stand firm in protecting the right to organize, raising wages, and ensuring that every hard-working Wisconsinite can prosper. When working families succeed, all of Wisconsin grows stronger and more prosperous.

As we return to work following Labor Day, I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on the impact of the labor movement in your life. I’d love to hear your union stories or thoughts about what it means to you. Please feel free to share here, John.
