Donald Trump just called Chicago “the murder capital of the world.”

Let’s be clear: that’s a baseless lie meant to smear our communities and stoke fear. The truth is, murder rates in red states like Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama are significantly higher than in Chicago. If Trump cared about stopping violence, he’d start by looking at his own party’s backyard.



But here’s what he doesn’t get: Chicago has always stood up to Trump’s lies and intimidation. We came together to resist his ICE raids. We marched when he threatened to send the National Guard to occupy our neighborhoods. And just yesterday, I spoke at a protest where our community once again made it clear—we will not be silenced.

I’ve been side by side with families impacted by ICE raids, fighting back against the fear Trump tried to sow. And I’ll never stop standing with them.

Chicago will not be intimidated by wannabe dictators like Donald Trump. We are resilient. We are proud. And we are not afraid to fight back.

Our city deserves a representative who has been battling MAGA long before this campaign — and I’ve been in that fight since I was 19.
