It’s been a busy few weeks, with some big developments in the fight to flip the House next year. Here’s a quick recap of what’s been happening, and what it means for our work together:
📍 Texas Republicans, at Donald Trump’s urging, redrew their congressional maps mid-cycle to carve out more Republican House seats. It’s a blatant power grab—an attempt to give them an unfair advantage in the fight for the House and cling to power despite their unpopular policies.
📍 In response, Governor Gavin Newsom launched a ballot measure that would let California voters decide whether to redraw their own maps. If it passes, it could cancel out the unfair advantage in the House race that Republicans are attempting to gain in Texas. That’s why we're going all in to support it. We’ll continue to provide opportunities to donate or volunteer on behalf of the effort, to help make sure it succeeds.
📍 We’ve also updated our map of target House districts based on these developments. Our goal is simple: to maximize the impact of your time and dollars to help Democrats win critical races, unseat Republicans, and win back control of the House. With the proposed congressional maps in California likely to change the competitiveness of a few districts, we are pausing our work in three of our priority House districts: CA-27, CA-41, and CA-47.
Here’s the bottom line: Republicans are attempting to change the rules to hold onto power. But we’ve got a plan—and together, we can create real impact from the ground up, by channeling resources to the swing districts that will matter most in the midterms, and beat Trump and the GOP at the ballot box.
We’re organizing now to lay the foundation to win back the House in 2026, and your support helps us do that work and also prepare for the fights ahead.
