John,
Just before a 3-day weekend, the Trump administration forced the Social Security whistleblower to resign:
This was no ordinary resignation―Politico reported that:
Charles Borges said in his resignation letter Friday that he was leaving his position “involuntarily,” doing so in part because of concerns that the agency’s data is being handled improperly and his efforts to correct the problems were rebuffed.
As a reminder, Borges blew the whistle that DOGE had accessed the full Social Security records of every American, and stored them on an unsecure private server.
Retaliating against whistleblowers is a crime.
With Congress back in Washington DC this week, we’re making sure this scandal isn’t brushed aside. Can you rush a donation to fuel our work?
Here’s the bottom line: Elon Musk and his DOGE minions stole the American people's private Social Security data.
This was no accident. Musk and his cronies come from Silicon Valley, where tech bros are furiously competing to see whose AI can gobble up the most data. Musk's nearly $300 million in contributions to Trump's campaign, along with buying Twitter and making it a de facto Trump campaign apparatus, were an investment—and now all of us are paying the price.
The database Musk’s henchmen copied includes full names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth―everything that a hacker would need to steal our identities.
The whistleblower warned: “Should bad actors gain access to this cloud environment, Americans may be susceptible to widespread identity theft, may lose vital health care and food benefits, and the government may be responsible for reissuing every American a new Social Security number at great cost.”
DOGE claims that they’re helping to save money. But the truth is, they’re stripping our government for parts, and selling things off to the highest bidder. It’s all part of a scheme that includes plans to privatize Medicare, the Post Office, the Weather Service, and Social Security. It has to be stopped.
We have stopped them before. We know how to fight back―and it’s going to take all of us. Can you chip in $7 today?
Thank you,
