Friends,
Elaine Norman here. For today’s $10 Tuesday, I want to tell you about Ralph’s favorite Bible verse.
Ralph is guided by his faith. Any time I see him go out to the farm for a long amount of time, I know he’s out there deep in thought and praying.
One of Ralph’s favorite passages of scripture is in the book of Esther. It’s a passage where Mordecai speaks to Esther, urging her to act courageously to save her people, reminding her that perhaps she was placed in her position by God “for such a time as this.”
Esther 4:14 "For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"
It’s a verse that reflects the importance of stepping up in whatever position God puts you in. It’s one that relies heavily not just on Esther’s courage but on her reliance to put her full faith in God to fulfill the plans he has for her and for His people.
That verse has always meant a lot to him. In fact, before he decided to run for governor, he prayed and asked God for a sign. He knew the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but he wanted to be certain it was the right step.
That very Sunday, the pastor preached on exactly that. His sermon talked about how when you are afraid to do something, but you know God is calling you to it, He will provide.
That was all the confirmation Ralph needed. He stepped forward in faith, trusting that God had prepared him for such a time as this.
