With far-right Republicans in control in Raleigh and in Washington, our biggest victories may not come from passing sweeping policy changes. Instead, our focus has to be on making progress step by step on some of the day-to-day challenges our communities face, like keeping neighborhoods safe and creating jobs in every corner of the state.

In Washington, Republicans seem set on tearing our government apart, no matter what damage their actions might do to states like ours. They’re slashing SNAP and Medicaid to put even more money into billionaires’ pockets, all while adding trillions to the national debt.

In Raleigh, GOP legislators have egregiously gerrymandered our state to keep power at any price — and uphold national Republicans’ dangerous agenda.

To protect our country, we have to stop the GOP’s assault on our rights.

You know the stakes, John, and I’m deeply grateful for you and all our supporters who are fighting back with me. Fighting for progress is a team effort, and succeeding now relies on electing more Democratic lawmakers at every level to partner with me. But here’s the hard truth: Democrats are underdogs in North Carolina.
