We secured a major victory.
Today the court handed down a major victory in our case against Donald
Trump and Pete Hegseth’s unlawful deployment of 4,000 federalized National
Guard troops and 700 Marines for civilian law enforcement in California.
Bottom line: Military troops cannot police our communities.
The court affirmed that Trump's use of troops for law enforcement was a
violation of the law, and a blatant disregard of the Posse Comitatus Act —
a bedrock of our democracy that dates all the way back to when the King of
England used his military to police the American colonies.
Donald Trump is not King. We are a nation of laws — and no one is above
them. Not even the president.
Trump’s power is not boundless. But as long as he keeps testing the
limits, I’ll need your help to keep fighting back.

Let’s be clear: Trump’s brazen violation of the law here
wasn’t about public safety. If it were, he wouldn’t pull Guard members
from fighting wildfires or stopping fentanyl. He wouldn’t disrespect our
troops by treating patriots like pawns in his political games.
These actions were nothing more than political theater and public
intimidation to serve Trump’s own power and his anti-immigrant agenda.
That’s why today’s ruling matters so much. This extreme administration is
hell-bent on trampling our rights and freedoms — but I will hold them
accountable, no matter how many battles it takes.
I sincerely hope this decision makes Trump think twice about his threats
to deploy troops to Oakland, Chicago, and New York — but if it doesn’t, I
can promise you this: we will take him right back to court.
[ [link removed] ]The work to counter Trump’s extreme overreach is far from over, and I
need your help to keep pushing for justice. Will you chip in right now to
stand with me?
Thank you so much for being in this fight.
More to come,
Rob
