John,

I will always emphasize that without labor, nothing prospers.

And yet, we are seeing the most aggressive war on workers that this country has seen since the Gilded Age. Too many workers today still face low wages, no or limited benefits, and harsh, sometimes inhumane working conditions – while being publicly villainized by the people making record profits off of those workers’ backs.

But our labor movement knows that as ominous as the threats we may face, now or in the future, we cannot agonize – we must keep organizing.

I will always stand in solidarity with our workers, and I am honored to have so many workers stand with me as we fight for better wages, hours, and working conditions.

And I am proud to be recognized by peers as the labor champion in the race for California’s future.

Capitol Weekly: California workers deserve a trusted candidate for governor

As Tim Paulson, former Executive Director of the San Francisco Labor Council and Secretary-Treasurer of the Building and Construction Trades Council, notes:

“Unlike many politicians who abandon workers when it’s politically convenient, Betty has never shied away from standing with labor when it mattered most. Her values don’t waver just to cut a deal. She’s walked picket lines, opposed attacks on collective bargaining rights, and fought for policies that protect workers on the job.”

I encourage you to read the full endorsement, and know I will be the workers’ champion as Governor.

I will always advocate for the right to collective bargaining to ensure that wages and benefits keep pace with costs in our state. And just as importantly, I will ensure Californians are given dignity and respect for their hard work.

Let’s not rely on Labor Day – we can make every day special for our workers.

In solidarity,

Betty
