Remember the headlines? The cable news panels? The frantic coverage of Texas's new, cynically-drawn district maps?
For a few weeks, the national media was focused on how politicians in Austin carved up our communities to choose their voters, not the other way around. They drew maps to silence our voices, dilute the power of our communities, and ensure they face no real accountability on Election Day.
Then, the news cycle moved on.
But for us, here in Texas, the damage isn't a headline. It's our reality. It means our neighborhoods are split, our votes are worth less, and our concerns are ignored.
The news has moved on, but we haven’t. We can't.
We're called Ground Game Texas for a reason. While the national attention has faded, our organizers are digging in deeper. We believe that a map is not destiny. We believe that the power of organized people is greater than the power of a gerrymandered line.
Here’s how we’re fighting the harmful effects of redistricting with everything we’ve got:
✅ Voter Registration: We’re gearing up to register thousands of new voters who have been systematically cut out of the democratic process.
✅ Community Organizing: We’re building relationships, connecting neighbors to fight for local issues and hold their elected officials accountable—no matter how "safe" they think their seat is.
✅ Building Power: We’re building lasting local power, block by block, so that no matter how a line is drawn, the will of the people cannot be ignored.
