Trump Suspends FEMA Staff for Criticizing Him
More than 180 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees sent a letter to Congress last week, arguing that the agency's direction harms their mission and could result in another disaster on the level of Hurricane Katrina. In what appears to be a direct act of retaliation, Trump then laid off about 30 employees who had signed the letter. In a time of worsening climate disasters, we should be investing in better preparedness and response, not dismantling them -- but Trump is trying to take away the few resources and staff that help us respond and recover.
Save disaster relief: Demand stronger protections for FEMA!

Trump's Weaponization of Government Puts People and Public Lands at Risk
Donald Trump and his MAGA regime are again stoking violence through their hostile takeover of the District of Columbia, turning our government into a weapon against the people while using our public lands as staging grounds for the National Guard and federal law enforcement.
This is part of a power grab to wrest more control and undermine state and local authority. It endangers our freedoms and our futures, and limits our readiness to respond to a disaster if our state National Guards are deployed for nonemergency purposes rather than to respond to floods, fires, or hurricanes. While DC, Los Angeles, and border communities are facing this crisis now, Trump has openly threatened that other cities and states could be next.
The more power the Trump regime takes away, the harder it becomes to protect our families and environment from harm. Legislation was just introduced in Congress to end Trump's federalization of the DC police -- so let's make sure our representatives hear from us!
Tell Congress to end this attack on our democracy.

Our Wild Forests Need Your Voice
The Trump administration is currently collecting comments on plans to get rid of the Roadless Area Conservation Rule. Simply put, this 2001 rule states that the last remaining wild areas in our national forests -- which are some of the wildest places in the country -- deserve to remain that way.
Make your voice heard: Tell the US Forest Service why these forests are too important to lose.

Trump Handpicked a Panel of Climate Deniers to Allow More Pollution
A new lawsuit, filed by the Environmental Defense Fund and the Union of Concerned Scientists, argues that the Trump administration violated the law when it undermined its own authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.

Hope and Alarm Reverberate Across the National Park Service
The National Park Service's sites capture the imagination, preserve the country's shared cultural heritage, and tell difficult stories about our history. They're also one of the best defenses for fragile landscapes and declining species in the face of climate change and an ever-developing world.
Yet as the National Park Service celebrates its 109th birthday, these sites face grave threats from draconian budget cuts, probationary firings, hiring freezes, and early retirements.
