Signature gathering will begin shortly to put an initiative on the California ballot in 2026 that, if passed, would devastate the state’s longstanding democratic process with two dangerous voter suppression measures: -
An ID requirement that would apply every time a voter casts a ballot in person or by mail.
- Requiring burdensome, expensive, and unreliable federal database checks to confirm US citizenship of eligible voters.
Millions of Californians do not have government-issued ID documents with their current name and address on it. For those who don’t, many don’t have the time or funds to replace documents, including those whose documents were lost or destroyed by natural disasters like the wildfires.
Stopping this harmful ballot initiative will take everything we’ve got.
We could really use your support. Make a gift now, and a dedicated donor will double it — and we’ll put it straight to use educating voters, supporting partners on the ground, and commissioning research to show exactly how harmful this initiative is. |
