TAKE ACTION: Our right to safe, clean water is on the line. Tell Congress to say NO to the PERMIT Act

House Republicans are pushing the most anti-clean water bill yet that would eliminate Clean Water Act safeguards and cement Trump’s pro-polluter, anti-environment priorities into law.

Tell Congress to vote NO on H.R. 3898, known as the PERMIT Act, to ensure everyone has access to clean and safe water  >>

Friend — Clean water is a human right, but too many communities still don’t have safe water to keep their families healthy.

Instead of working to ensure everyone has access to clean water, House Republicans are trying to shield polluters from transparency and oversight, rubber stamp their dirty pipelines, and jeopardize our drinking water, all in the name of higher polluter profits.

HR 3898, the “PERMIT Act,” is a dangerous bill that would gut the Clean Water Act, giving polluters a free pass to dump into our critical waters and destroy our wetlands, threatening our health and the environment.

When Congress returns next week, Republicans plan to push through the PERMIT Act to help boost the profits of their polluter allies. We need to stop this bill in its tracks.

Here are just some specifics of what the dangerous PERMIT Act will do if passed:

  • It would allow polluters to dump toxic “forever chemicals,” aka PFAS, into waterways without telling regulators or the public.
  • It would fast-track projects that destroy wetlands and worsen flooding.
  • It would strip states and Tribal Nations of their power to protect their own water resources.
  • It would exclude millions of miles of streams and millions of acres of wetlands from federal protections.

If the PERMIT Act is signed into law, it will decimate over 50 years of clean water protections.

It would greenlight more toxic discharges of pollutants like “forever chemicals” into rivers and lakes, weaken safeguards against oil and gas pipelines, and prioritize costs to polluters instead of using science to set safety standards to protect our health.

The result? More pollution, more flooding, more threats to the water our kids and grandkids rely on for drinking, swimming, and fishing.

Thanks for speaking up, Friend.
