High-Level Discussions Held with Guatemalan President and Jewish Communal Leaders |
Marina Rosenberg, SVP for International Affairs Marina Rosenberg and Liat Altman, Director of Latin American Affairs, visited Colombia and Guatemala for high-level meetings with elected officials, the Jewish community and others. In Guatemala, they met with President Bernardo Arévalo
, where they discussed implementing the Global Guidelines to Combat Antisemitism, and presented the President with Spanish-language educational resources for Holocaust education and to help combat rising antisemitic incidents across the region.

In Colombia, they met with Jewish community leaders to discuss the heightened vulnerability of Colombian Jews amid government-sanctioned political antisemitism, and how ADL can assist. They also met with officials at the US Embassy.

Israel and the Middle East

ADL expressed reservations about Israel's decision to expand Gaza operations, including how it will impact the wellbeing of the 50 hostages and the security of global Jewish communities, while emphasizing that holding all Jews accountable for Israeli government policies constitutes antisemitism.
In an op-ed, Marina Rosenberg condemned the international community for failing to speak out about the Syrian’s government’s massacre of and violence towards Druze and other minorities in the country, arguing that Western endorsement of Syria's "reformed" government has enabled these atrocities.
ADL welcomed the UN Secretary-General's long-overdue decision to add Hamas to the list of groups who committed sexual violence in armed conflict, which was a result of nearly two years of advocacy by ADL and others.
ADL strongly condemned hateful graffiti spray-painted on the Western Wall and Great Synagogue in Jerusalem that trivialized the Holocaust and spread false claims about Gaza.

Dalia Grinfeld, Associate Director of European Affairs, participated in the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) Summer U conference that brings together young Jewish students and professionals aged 18-30 from across Europe. During the conference, ADL led sessions on antisemitism and anti-Israel bias, facilitated Words to Actions workshops and activities, met with emerging Jewish student leaders from across Europe, and participated in several
media interviews.
ADL and JLens condemned Norway's Government Pension Fund Global for divesting from 11 Israeli companies, citing a discriminatory double standard that excludes Israeli companies at a 32% rate—the highest of any country in the fund's 63-country portfolio—while giving free passes to authoritarian regimes like China, Qatar, and Turkey.
ADL condemned the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina for politicizing the storied Sarajevo Haggadah by using it to attack Israel and exploiting the Haggadah to raise money for Palestinian causes.

ADL condemned the vandalization of a synagogue in Santiago, Chile on Shabbat, and called on authorities to act against those responsible.

ADL joined our Canadian Jewish partner CIJA in welcoming the Toronto International Film Festival's (TIFF) decision to reinstate the 10/7 documentary "The Road Between Us." The film, which had initially been dropped by TIFF due to anti-Israel pressure, was reinstated following pressure from ADL and others.
ADL welcomed Australia's decision to expel Iran's ambassador after investigations revealed the IRGC directed antisemitic attacks targeting a Melbourne synagogue and Sydney kosher cafe, and supported Canberra's intent to designate the IRGC as a terrorist entity. |
