John,
This is not the news I wanted to share today — but as a member of this team, you deserve to hear it straight.
On Sunday night, we fell short of our August fundraising goal.
Missing a goal isn’t the end of the world. Normally, we’d shake it off. But I have to be honest: This one matters.
Over the past month, Trump has attacked our democracy relentlessly. He has deployed the National Guard in D.C., threatened to take away mail-in voting, gerrymandered Texas maps to eliminate five Democratic seats, and even met with Putin — a wanted war criminal — on U.S. soil. He’s making it clear: He holds all the power, and no one is getting in his way. This is full-on authoritarianism.
Now more than ever, we need people in Congress who will stand up to him — including me — and hold the seats that will lead us to a House majority.
But national Republicans have made it crystal clear they want me out of Congress. I’m at the top of their target list, and they’ve already begun their attacks. Falling behind on fundraising only gives them an edge — so we need to catch up fast and hit the ground running in September, our FEC deadline month.
Right now, we’re still $4,672 short, but if everyone reading this email chips in $3 or whatever they can, we’ll close the gap and come back strong.
If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly:
Thanks for being part of this fight. Our pro-democracy movement only works because of people like you stepping up when it counts.
