A message for our supporters:
Our SAVE PROP 13 ballot measure petition is cleared for circulation!
"We are in a war over whether it will or will not be easier to raise your taxes. We think it should not be easier to raise your taxes. If you agree with us, please sign the petition to help us pass the Local Taxpayer Protection Act to Save Proposition 13."
- Jon Coupal, President, HJTA
Hope you had a great Labor Day. We're pleased to tell you that today we're taking action to protect the hard-earned money that is the product of your lifetime of work.
Taxpayers are facing a crisis, one that we are addressing with an initiative to Save Proposition 13.
The crisis is a series of court decisions that have made it easier to raise taxes of all kinds, even "sales taxes on real estate," known as transfer taxes. These changes are hacking away at Proposition 13, and we must act.
That's why we've filed an initiative called the Local Taxpayer Protection Act to Save Proposition 13. It is a one-page petition that can be printed at home.
On Friday afternoon, our initiative petition was cleared for circulation! It's now ready to sign.

If every member of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association signs this petition and collects one additional signature, we'll be halfway to qualifying this initiative for the November 2026 ballot. If everyone collects two more signatures, we'll be almost there. Collect five more signatures and it will be on the ballot.
Will you help to save Proposition 13? Even if you're not able to collect extra signatures, you can still sign the petition yourself and that will be a tremendous help.
It's easy. Complete instructions and even a clip-and-tape mailing label are included with the official petition. Just click or tap here:

You can print the one-page petition on ordinary letter-size paper. If you don't have a printer available, any office store that offers print services can download the petition from SaveProp13.com and print it for you at a nominal charge. Or if you prefer, we'll be happy to send you the petition by postal mail.

Then please tell everyone you know how important it is to sign the petition for the Local Taxpayer Protection Act to Save Proposition 13. Forward this email, or send them the link to the SaveProp13.com website!
For the convenience of our volunteers and anyone who wants to collect more signatures, we have a second version of the official petition that has room for six voters to sign. Be sure to print it on legal size paper (8-1/2 x 14") so that the signatures will count. Here it is:
