Last week I joined California Democrats for a townhall on immigration — I want to share some of my remarks with you because the stakes are too high to stay silent.
I spoke about the dangerous, and at times unlawful, tactics Trump is using to intimidate immigrant families and divide our communities — how he’s cultivating fear, mistrust, and confusion.
How he’s bringing in military trucks. He’s sending federal agents in masks and plainclothes into our communities. They’re driving unmarked vehicles and jumping out of moving vans, refusing to identify themselves when asked.
Trump’s tactics are dangerous and inhumane. His actions are damaging community trust in law enforcement, disrupting our lives — and they are deeply un-American.
I refuse to stand idly by while this administration terrorizes our communities and repeatedly breaks the law.
That’s why in just 32 weeks, I’ve filed 39 lawsuits against Trump — including:
- Blocking his attempt to end birthright citizenship
- Stopping him from tying vital federal funding to immigration enforcement
- Challenging his illegal deployment of federal troops in Los Angeles
And at the California Department of Justice, we’re making sure people know their rights. My office has published resources for immigrant families, schools, and communities in multiple languages — because knowledge is power.
Every lawsuit, every action, every resource takes support – but I can’t keep up these fights unless I win re-election next year.
Will you chip in today to my re-election campaign so I can keep fighting back against Trump’s unlawful attacks and continue defending California families?

California is the most diverse state in the nation — and that’s our greatest strength. I’ll never stop fighting to protect it.
Thank you,
