Happy Labor Day, team!
Today is about more than just picnics and barbecues — Labor Day is about recognizing the contributions of working New Yorkers and celebrating New York's proud history as the cradle of the labor movement.
I'm proud that my grandpa, dad, and uncles were all members of the United Steelworkers when they worked at the Bethlehem Steel plant in Lackawanna.
Unions built the middle class and helped families like mine live the American dream.
As Governor, I am committed to fighting for New York’s workers — because I believe that the people who keep our communities moving every day deserve respect, fair pay, and good benefits.
Working people built New York, and union workers keep it running today. I’m a proud champion of the labor movement, and I’ll keep up the fight for our unions every single day.
Take time to thank a union member today!
Ever Upward,
Governor Kathy Hochul
