Happy Labor Day!
I’ve always known the power of unions. My great-grandfather fought to unionize sewer workers in Minneapolis.
My single mother worked hard as a phlebotomist, and that job helped move us closer to the middle class. But she always felt her work life would be better if she were part of a union.
Labor unions have been at the forefront of advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and benefits that ensure workers can support their families with dignity. These victories were hard-won, achieved through solidarity, perseverance, and a belief in justice.
I’m proud to be labor-endorsed, and to have walked the picket lines with SEIU Healthcare and the Minnesota Nurses Association this year.
This campaign is about fighting for working families, and that’s something I’ll never stop doing.
