Friend -
This Labor Day, we're taking a moment to celebrate the working people who shape our state.
Senate Democrats are proud of our unwavering commitment to workers' rights and an economy that works for everyone. We stand with workers across our state, recognizing the tireless efforts that drive progress and innovation. We take pride in advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and equal opportunity. And we are conscious each day of the indispensable efforts of labor unions in every sector to protect Washington workers.
In the last few years, we’ve made important progress in protecting workers’ rights. Just this last session, we extended unemployment insurance to striking workers to ensure that workers can feed their families while negotiating with employers, expanded eligibility for union representation, and extended access to paid family and medical leave.
We expanded the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act, the Employee Free Choice Act, and improved Washington's paid sick leave law.
Washington is proof that it’s possible to have a healthy business climate AND well-protected workers: last year, we were rated the fourth-best state to work and the tenth-best state for businesses.
Our progress is not just the result of our efforts but also your support and dedication. Together, we can ensure that every worker has a chance to thrive, that workers' rights are protected, and that our economy works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to a brighter future for all.
In Solidarity,
The WSDC
