Hi John,
Happy Labor Day! Today is the day we recognize the labor movement and how far we’ve come because of them.
I proudly come from a labor family – my mom was a public school teacher in West Michigan and my grandfather was an electrician in Detroit. My husband and father-in-law worked at Meijer’s and were members of UFCW 951.
We have the labor movement and unions to thank for everything from workplace safety regulations, to weekends, to child safety laws – but that doesn’t mean that the work is over.
We know that, with the current, pro-corporate administration, workers are facing an uphill battle. But you can rest assured that I will always be a leader in your corner, and I will never back down in the face of anti-union attacks.
The Teamsters know that I’m a fighter for them, and it’s why they’ve endorsed me in this race. They trust that I have their best interests at the forefront of my mind, and that I’ll never sell them out in favor of corporate greed.
Thank you to our community members in the labor movement for everything you’ve done – and I’ll have your backs in the fight to come.
– Jessica
