Happy Labor Day, team!
I wanted to reach out to share my story about why this day matters to me.
My mother worked as a factory machine operator, and my father as a hospital technician. Both were proud union members. They taught me that dignity in work and fairness on the job aren’t privileges, but that they’re rights worth fighting for.
I still carry their lessons with me today. When my family immigrated to the U.S., we struggled through financial hardship, language barriers, and sacrifice. I know first-hand that union jobs give families like mine stability and a foundation to build a better future. It’s why I’ve spent my life serving others — from leading nonprofits and advocating for children, to helping students prepare for careers, to working on energy solutions that save families money.
This Labor Day, I’m committed to carrying forward that fight for working families in Congress. We need leaders who understand that protecting workers’ rights, strengthening unions, and ensuring fair wages aren’t just talking points — they’re the heart of what makes the American dream possible.
I hope you and your family have a safe and restful Labor Day.
