Happy Labor Day, Philadelphia!
Today, we celebrate the hardworking individuals who contribute their skills, dedication, and passion to build our great city.
I am a proud pro-Labor Mayor. I have seen firsthand the transformative benefits that union membership brings: a good paycheck, a ticket to the middle class, and work that is genuinely appreciated. That is why, as Mayor, I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with my brothers and sisters in the Labor movement.
Labor Day reminds us of the achievements we've made together—advocating for fair wages, safe workplaces, and workers' rights. We’ve worked hard to get fair contracts for our teachers, police, city workers, and more. It’s a day to honor the progress we’ve achieved and the challenges we continue to overcome.
Labor Day is also a reminder of the incredible strength, dedication, and unity that have driven progress throughout history. Unions have played a pivotal role in shaping our modern workforce and giving hard-working people a voice.
Let’s take today to celebrate these accomplishments, reflect on the progress we’ve made, and commit to continuing the fight for fairness, opportunity, and dignity for every worker in Philadelphia.
Thank you for everything you do to make our city stronger.
One Philly, A United City.
— Mayor Parker
