Hunger Free America’s Social Services Job Training Program
Increased wages are the most effective long-term solution to persistent poverty and hunger, and the social services sector has an increasing demand for qualified employees. Our Social Services Job Training Program, funded by the Albertsons Companies Foundation’s Innovation Spark Grant, works to address both needs.
The program launched this year, and our first cohorts of trainees completed 16 weeks of hard work and graduated this summer. Over time, it will provide paid training to 200 Illinois and Maryland residents who are unemployed, underemployed, or employed in low-wage jobs to boost their long-term economic advancement by increasing their work skills and wages.
