Herbert,
This Labor Day is especially meaningful for me — my first as a United States Congressman. It’s the first time I can not only honor the achievements of America’s workers, but also fight directly for federal policies that lift them up and give them the tools to thrive.
American workers are the backbone of our democracy and the driving force of our economy. Their strength, resilience, and determination are what move this country forward — and I will never stop telling their stories, championing their struggles, and celebrating their successes.
That’s why I’m committed to advancing legislation that:
- Protects every worker’s right to join a union and negotiate for fair wages and safe conditions;
- Holds employers accountable when they violate workers’ rights and pushes back against laws designed to weaken unions;
- Raises the minimum wage so it reflects today’s realities; and
- Safeguards our dedicated civil workforce from partisan attacks.
On this Labor Day, and every day, I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the hardworking, proud union members who power our communities and keep America strong. Thank you for all you do — today, I celebrate you.
