John, I know you’ve heard from me and the team a ton lately — sorry about that. The truth is we’re coming up on a big midnight deadline, and I hope you’ll hear me out one last time before the clock runs out.

I never expected to be in Congress. I ran because when I saw our entrenched MAGA representative turning his back on CA-27 in favor of the MAGA agenda, I knew I had to take a stand.

And I wasn’t alone. My message resonated with thousands of supporters like you, who knocked on doors, made calls, and donated to support my campaign.

We defied the political headwinds in November 2024 and narrowly defeated the GOP in this race. Since then, I’ve been fighting for our communities in Congress – despite being in the minority party.

While I’m using my position to the best of my ability to push back on the devastating impacts of the MAGA agenda, controlling the House majority is the only surefire way to stop the attacks on working families and our democracy.

Just this week, more essential programs are in turmoil. This White House attacked our science agencies by firing the leader of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) – the latest in a long string of assaults on longstanding institutions.

The fight to end the chaos starts now, and I’m already a top target of national Republicans who want nothing more than to flip CA-27 right back to red. It’s why they’re backing my new opponent and are running attack ads as you read this message.

Unlike the first time I ran for this seat, I’m already in Congress – laser-focused on delivering results, not fundraising. But if we hit tonight’s August goal, we’ll be better equipped to protect this seat and give Democrats a chance to win the majority.
