Democrats once again kicked the budget deficit can down the road and raised taxes on hardworking Coloradans. This so-called “Special Session” did nothing for taxpayers or small businesses — it was not a budget session, it was a spending session.
Instead of addressing our spending problem, Democrats:
📈 Increased taxes on individuals and small businesses
💸 Slashed the vendor fee that helped small businesses offset the costs of collecting sales taxes for the state — pulling thousands of dollars out of their pockets
🏦 Created a corporate giveaway scheme that sells $250 million worth of tax credits to insurance companies for just $200 million
📜 Violated the Constitution and TABOR by raising taxes without a vote of the people
🐺 Ignored real reforms — like cutting spending or ending the costly wolf reintroduction program
The session adjourned yesterday, August 26th, with taxpayers left holding the bill. One-party Democrat control failed to balance the budget, failed to protect small businesses, and failed to respect voters.
The Special Taxing Session deserves an F- and that grade belongs squarely to Colorado Democrats and Governor Polis.
